The project still exists and RobDEV has released a mod to the public.

RobDEV is looking to make his project(s) freeware, not only for legal reasons, but because he doesn't see the appeal in gaining profit for reviving the project. But this version is so old it's rather an uninteresting direct mobile port with practically no new content.ĭespite the naming, Pixel Gun Infinity is the project that is being more developed as a revival for Pixel Gun World, and it is possible that over time, the project could go under a different path, though it is still currently under beta, and is looking for lost PGW versions. RobDEV also found an ancient version of PGW, specifically 1.5.2, and he managed to repair it and make it work online in just a day. In 1.5, the game's interface changed siginificantly from a very old Pixel Gun 3D version to resemble the interface of Pixel Gun World, and matchmaking became more frequent, with matches often being debuted by specific players from the project's Discord server. Pixel Gun Infinity debuted as a mix of an even older PG3D version with some PGW-exclusive content. RobDEV built two separate versions of the game: Pixel Gun Infinity and Pixel Gun World. A notable previous attempt at reviving Pixel Gun World was done by Los a few years prior, although the attempt was unsuccessful, due to a combination of risk of copyright and not releasing the game to members of the Pixel Gun community. In 2022, a Pixel Gun fan and hobby game developer, RobDEV, unofficially revitalized the game as a fan project, with his version of the game being the first successful attempt at reviving Pixel Gun World to the public. Unofficial Revival Main article: RobDEV's revival attempts of Pixel Gun World According to one of the official forum announcements, Pixel Gun World moderator, Daniel Hyuuga, has confirmed that the game is utterly canceled with no chance of revival, but said to have a game similar to it, although an official game or revival was never made. Even if it was announced that the game will eventually come back in a complete version, it was shut down permanently. On J(4:00 PM UTC), the game servers and the official forum were shut down and Pixel Gun World hasn't been playable since that day. The game received updates and improvements during the following months (see Pixel Gun World Updates). Sometime later, anybody had the ability to join the beta. A few days after, the second wave of Closed Beta testers had to ability to play Pixel Gun World. On June 10, 2015, the first players could participate in the Closed Beta test. Shortly after, a website was opened along with the official forum of the game, where the users could subscribe and discuss with other members and the developers about Pixel Gun World.

It was described as a completely new game for PC platforms with unique features. Pixel Gun World was announced on May 26, 2015, by RiliSoft on their Facebook Page and on the unofficial Pixel Gun 3D Forums. Usually, a player was able to earn, or even a weapon, if they won a contest. There were also community contests on the forums, where players were able to participate in. There was also a Pixel Gun World forum where people used to post in, amuse in off-topic threads, report bugs, suggest ideas for the game and even report players that misbehave in the chat or in the game in general. There were 63 weapons at the end of the Open Beta test. There was a worldwide chatroom which was available while players were on the Map Selection screen, creating a server and battling. The clans system was also reworked and fixed.

The game also had 3 exclusive maps, which were Isla de la Muerte, Space Desert and Kung Fu Village. Most of these features were available in the Armory for a limited time only. Exclusive weapon sets were implemented in the game, which include pirate weapons, exclusive Light Swords and Dark Swords, upgrades for simple weapons (e.g. The game had different multiplayer modes and the Arena mode for single-player (Internet was required to play Arena). There were multiple differences between Pixel Gun 3D and it’s PC counterpart, such as unique features and interfaces, new mechanics and exclusive content. Pixel Gun World was a PC port of Pixel Gun 3D created on June 10, 2015.
